Radish, Brussels, and Beets: Whole Food Support for Detoxification

Explore detox pathways, supportive nutrients, and key botanicals that help the body eliminate toxins and restore balance.

Radish, Brussels, and Beets: Whole Food Support for Detoxification

This course (1 hour/1 CEU) provides a comprehensive overview of the body’s natural detoxification systems, with a focus on the liver, skin, and digestive pathways.

Learners will examine the role of phase I and phase II liver detoxification, the importance of bile flow, and the NRF2 antioxidant pathway. Nutritional cofactors such as zinc and betaine, and detox-supportive foods like Brussels sprouts, beets, and Spanish black radish, are highlighted. Special attention is given to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and their impact on hormone balance and metabolism.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify effective dietary and supplemental strategies to support the body’s detoxification capacity.

Introduction and Supporting Detoxification

Throughout this course, you’ll explore the pervasive impact of environmental toxins on human health and learn how to support the body’s natural detoxification systems through a food-first approach. From understanding endocrine disruptors and detox pathways to applying clinical strategies using nutrient-dense whole foods, this course blends current research with practical tools to support patient care. Whether your goal is to expand your clinical knowledge or apply more targeted nutritional strategies, this course offers evidence-based guidance for supporting detoxification through a whole-food approach.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common sources of environmental toxins and learn how the modern toxic burden contributes to the growing risk of chronic disease.
  • Understand the physiological effects of endocrine disruptors on hormone regulation and metabolic health.
  • Review the body’s natural detoxification systems, including phase I and II liver detoxification pathways, and outline the nutrients required for optimal function.
  • Evaluate the clinical benefits of a food-first approach to detoxification by examining the therapeutic effects of bioactive compounds in Spanish black radish, Brussels sprouts, and beets.
  • Explore clinical strategies for assessing and supporting detoxification in practice, including lifestyle recommendations and risk considerations.
