Nourishing the Pediatric Microbiome for Gut, Brain, and Immune Balance
This course (3 Hours/3 CEUs) is designed to provide clinicians with a practical understanding of how the developing microbiome influences pediatric immune function, gut–brain communication, metabolism, allergic resilience, and overall health.
Through three modules, learners explore the foundations of microbiome development from pregnancy through early life, including the influence of maternal microbial metabolites, birth practices, early feeding, environmental exposures, stress physiology, and diet.
Module One: Nurturing Microbiome: The First 1000 Days

Throughout this module, we will explore how maternal factors, birth practices, infant feeding, environmental exposures, and early childhood nutrition contribute to microbiome development during the first 1000 days. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the clinical relevance of these early microbial patterns and identifying practical strategies that may help support healthier developmental outcomes.
Module Two: The Pediatric Gut–Brain Axis

This module explores how these connections take shape early in life, how they present in children, and the key pathways through which the gut and brain communicate from the belly to the brain and back again. It also introduces practical ways to support this system through nutrition, nervous system regulation, daily routines, and whole-food and botanical strategies.
Module Three: The Atopic Connection in Pediatric Health

This module explores how these interconnected systems influence the atopic march and the clinical expression of atopy. It also highlights how a foundation of whole foods and nutrition, combined with thoughtful use of targeted interventions when needed, can support immune balance, strengthen barrier function, and help shift the trajectory of atopic disease toward prevention and resilience.
